Energy transfers

4/17/2012

Learning target:
I can explain what happens to the energy from the sun once it has been converted into food energy in the glucose.

In addition to this we are also exploring what happens to the atoms of living organisms (biomass) as they pass from plant to animal.

Today we read p. 17-21 and each table team is responsible for teaching one section of the articel. You all worked on a fabulous visual aid today that you will use to teach the rest of the class.

Photosynthesis

4/16/2012

every one picked up really quickly from where we left off before science fair presentations.. which were fantastic by the way!

Learning target: I can explain what plants need to make food and the photosynthesis equation. I can write a conclusion and discussion for an investigation.

I am not convinced though that everyone understand the photosynthsis process. So our next step is to look at how the food is used by the producers and the consumers who eat the producers. At the same time we will constantly refer back to photosynthesis.

carbon dioxide and water are the materials used to make glucose in the leaves of plants and light enegy from the sun allows this proces to occur.
