Today the orange permission papers are due. I am sure there will be many of you who today need to narrow down your investigation question and that is what we will do. Those of you who are confident of your question will have time to do your research and write the introduction so everyone will be busy today.

We read the section about Rube Goldberg in the Models and Designs book and identified an energy TRANSFER. After this you were challenged to make a doorbell using a variety of materials with just 2 rules/ I will post the results tomorrow!

The heat energy in the lighter is transfered to the heat energy in the rocket.

It seemed hard to get back into learning today but by period 2 we were all back to normal. Today we were studying how to  draw diagrams to show energy transfers and transfornations. there is a protocol used to show energy transfers and we practiced those protocols on the white boards and in the journals.

Today was a very productive work day with many people finishing their energy booklet. Nice job. your extra pages will be used to add some transfer and transformation diagrams. Save them blank!!!
For those of you who have to finish the work tonight I have attached the picture of the suggested  layout.

Most of you were focused and working hard on your book presentations. Third period  I am really looking forward to seeing your PowerPoint presentations. We will continue to work on the booklets tomorrow and they will be due at the end of class.

What a busy day!

Some of you were making PowerPoints, some making flip charts, SOme researching from text books and some of you even got to start your Little Book of Energy!
What are we doing?
-you are researching about all the different forms of energy.
-You have taken notes on all those energy forms.
-Your notes have been from the flip charts I made
-You have taken notes from the flipcharts that were presented in your class.
Next Steps?
You are going to summarize your knowledge in a Little Book of Energy. This will be completed in class over the next two days.
 
Today you are researching the different forms of energy to find out as much as you can so that you can publish the information in the form of a book.
In the interest of time you should focus on your group's energy form that you will teach to the class tomorrow then on the definition of energy and lastly the other energy foms if you have time:
1. your team's energy form

definition of energy
3.
the other energy forms

We are begining to look at energy and will work on  a mini unit over the next few weeks. We will be covering the WA state standards:
6-8 SYSC ~ The output of one system can become the input of another.
6-8 SYSE ~ Input and output of energy in a system.
6-8 PS3A ~ Energy exists in many forms. Energy can be transferred from one form
                 to another and transferred from one place to another.
